Foto Friday

Ok technically this is breaking the rules, except that I guess I made up the rules so I can say its not. I just haven't had the motivation or time during the week to actually go and take pictures.

Tonight Maiken and I took the kids to see Disney's Oceans. Even though Will fell asleep, I thought it was a very cool movie. Anyone who enjoys nature shows will like it. My favorite part was some of the amazing audio that they got. I was baffled on how they get stuff like that and definitely think they deserve some sort of award. There is a tugging on heart strings moment with a mother and baby sea lion that was worth it just on its on.

So in honor of Oceans, reposting a few pics I took at the National Aquarium in Baltimore last summer. By far some of my favorite pics I've ever taken.

And just a shout out cause my heart is breaking for this little guy and I hope his health turns around and he makes a full recovery. Sorry I don't have a better pic, but wishing I could pet your curly head Porter.

Foto Friday + 2 days

What, its not Friday? My bad. As I was driving Will home today I saw that two residents had returned to the industrial park waterways. I have many happy memories of my great aunt taking us to feed the ducks here when I was little. And I love the random spotting of visitors.

Man of the Year

Recently my sister Maiken introduced me to the HGTV show Holmes on Homes (and here). For those of you not familiar, Mike Holmes is an awesome contractor who comes in and rescues families who paid to have work on their home done, and had it done wrong. Not only does this guy come in and fix the work, he fixes anything he finds wrong even if it has nothing to do with the original reason they came in. This can lead to entire plumbing and rewiring for the entire house.

The guy is just amazing and has a wonderful crew with him. His motto is "Make it Right." He goes above and beyond which sadly most people are not willing to do. He also has a foundation that encourages youth to go into the skills trade and receive proper training to help make sure that future contractors and skilled workers are doing things right, from the beginning.

There have been several episodes of this show that will make you tear up and I'm always amazed at the after product. The only downside of watching the show is that I'm terrified to ever own a home again, or hire anyone to do work on said fantasy home. But man its a fun show to watch. And it may or may not have anything to do with me having a serious crush on this guy. I mean he's got a soft spot for helping people, amazing work ethic, great skills (I bet there are some nunchuku ones in there too), soft on the eyes and there is just something about watching guys use their muscles. And I don't care what Britta thinks, Canadians are AWESOME!

Even though my mom started a blog, she has yet to post anything about her garden, which I totally think she needs to do! So I am posting some early stages of the plantings. I wish I had the ability to keep a house plant alive let alone all the amazing things she does in the garden.
